Saxenda®

Saxenda® is a brand name for liraglutide, an injectable prescription medication used for weight management in adults who are overweight or have obesity. Unlike other formulations of liraglutide, Saxenda is not intended for the treatment of diabetes.
Saxenda® mimics the effects of a naturally occurring hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which helps regulate appetite, food intake, and body weight. Does Saxenda activate GLP-1 receptors in the brain to promote a feeling of fullness and reduce food intake?
Saxenda® is injected subcutaneous, usually in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Administered daily.
